A Classic Daddy Moment
The Husband is a deep sleeper. Normally he sleeps through anything. It’s very rare for him to wake up because of a fussing child. It’s almost unheard of for him to wake up before me when a kiddo is fussing.
Now you parents know that a peaceful quiet night’s sleep is rather elusive. I have come to expect that I will be awakened at least once each night. I don’t always have to go check on someone, but I definitely hear someone fussing.
So at 2:30 a.m. I awoke to fussing. The Husband was already jumping out of bed to see what the problem was. I smiled, a little relived that he was getting up. Then it hit me. It wasn’t the Big One, it was the Little One.
As I have said before, my girls are polar opposites. When the Big One wakes up fussing, it is typically imperative that someone go check on her because the fussing will continue to escalate until everyone is awake and miserable. When the Little One fusses, it is typically better to just let her work it out on her own. She tends to get even more upset if you go in there.
So my brief moment of relief was short-lived. I was thinking to myself, “Uh-oh this is going to be bad.”
Then suddenly it was quiet and a few seconds later the Husband returned. A bit shocked that he got her quiet, I simply asked, “everyone, okay.”
To which he replied, “Yeah… I went in the wrong room.”
Classic. It’s a darn good thing he didn’t wake the Big One up when he barged in there to see why she was fussing!
It’s funny, but at the same time, I am a bit relieved he didn’t go in to try and rescue the Little One. It would have been a much longer night.
{Sweety if you are reading this, it’s was funny. You do get props for getting up!!}
Very cute 🙂 Good effort daddy 🙂
So daddy… so well intentioned, and yet so very wrong. Bless their mis-guided little hearts.
